Eduard Genserek

Eduard Genserek does not limit himself exclusively to reportage and street photography within his art. His portraits capture eyes full of stories and souls and they are the mirrors through which we can peer into the depths of human existence. Each portrait is like a silent dialogue, an intimate conversation between photographer and model that allows us to perceive layers of emotional and social texture.

Another time he toys with architecture not only as an aesthetic, but also a socio-cultural phenomenon where every structure tells its own story whether it is an abandoned building or a vibrant metropolis. He is not only a documentarian of structures, but also a sensitive narrator of stories that are hidden inside these buildings. His images are a meditation over the connection between material and human experience, capturing the depth and complexity of the relationships between buildings and the lives that complete them. Thus, his architectural photography becomes a unique reflection of past and present narratives that shape the visual and social space around us.

The uniqueness of his work is manifested by his ability to combine different genres of photography to approach them with deep understanding and empathy and through them creates a complex and multidimensional image. He is not only a photographer, an art lover, but also a researcher, storyteller and mediator who transfers tones, textures and essence into a visual language that is communicative and at the same time extremely personal.

He has been dedicated to the African continent for a long time. Through the lens, he captures rare moments of everyday life in the heart of the African continent, in the embrace of nature where the diversity of ethnicities and cultures is intermingled. He does not intend to become just a passive spectator, but he enters direct dialogues with the continent, often uncharted in many of its aspects. His work is not only about random images, but also about long-term stories.

He does not dwell only on the superficial fascination with the exotic. He does not only present a varied palette of nations and tribes, but he also leads us on a journey where we can look into the souls of these communities, into their pains, joys, losses and hopes. With his sensitive approach and empathetic presence, he creates a connection that allows him to get closer to the real stories of the people he meets. He tries not only to create images, but to tell entire epics that hides layers of meanings, emotions and experiences. His work is a sonnet of light and shadow, story and time in which the destinies of individuals and entire communities are reflected.

Images created in the hot African sun, reflecting the harmony of colors and patterns of traditional clothing, the details of expressive faces and the silhouettes of figures set in the endless plains of the country, all these elements create a unique visual language. He focuses on the continent not only with the desire to photograph it, but to understand it, become part of its rhythm and bring something more from there - pieces of authenticity and deep human stories that resonate beyond the boundaries of the photographs themselves. It becomes a bridge between worlds and reminds us that art is not about visual beauty or perfection of form, but about the way it can communicate emotions, stories and cultures.

He is the author of many publications from Slovakia, laureate of SLOVAK PRESS PHOTO, CZECH PRESS PHOTO and several other world awards.
